“My 2-year-old son had Ashley as his speech therapist for several months to help with his speech delay. It was a completely new experience for us having a provider come to our home each week, and in the beginning, we were very nervous about it not knowing what to expect. From the first time we met Ashley, she was so easy to talk to and get along with, with a bright personality and a positive attitude, we were immediately at ease to have her come into our home. She was so professional, punctual, respectful, accommodating and patient.  She kept her mask on during the height of COVID to ensure our safety, she removed her shoes to abide by our “no shoe” policy on our main floor, and she patiently allowed me to multitask with our therapy session at times while helping my 2 older children before school. These were all so important to us to maintain a healthy and comfortable relationship. But beyond the many things we loved about Ashley mentioned above, what we loved the most was the wealth of knowledge and service she gave for our son’s speech development. Her passion for speech therapy is so evident in the way she serves her clients. Every morning, she listened intently when I spoke and ensured she understood everything I was trying to relay by repeating back to me and making sure we were on the same page. She gave options for me to choose from, showed examples, and her explanations of “why” were as if she was reading out of a textbook! Ashley is so smart and knowledgeable about her field, and that is an understatement. I learned so much from her and it really helped me to understand how certain activities would help my son. As a pharmacist, who always needs to know “why” and/or “how” something works, this was perfect! She quickly realized that I’m a busy mother of 3 kids with a full-time job, and remembering our goals each week, along with implementing what we had talked about, was a struggle for me. She was so accommodating in giving me tools to help, writing down our goals, texting or emailing me reminders and resources, she made everything so easy! I never felt judged, and she constantly praised and encouraged me when I felt inadequate as a tool for my son. My son has a very hard time warming up to people, but he loved Ashley! She will be terribly missed in our home, but I know she will be blessing many others with her talent!”

“At first, our children were not doing anything more than simple sounds and very few words. We started seeing Ashley Hosman on August 12th of 2022 and although our time was short-lived, my children are now capable of saying more than what we expected. She taught them how to indicate things that they wanted and even showed us as parents how to get them to be more receptive to what we were saying to them. They even learned a bit of sign language with their time with her. She was always a pleasure and never had a problem with her flexibility when it came to us having to reschedule. We loved her teaching methods, and it was always a joy to see her interreact with our kids. She never had a problem when they just simply “weren’t in the mood” and always worked her hardest to get them to learn in the timeframe of our appointments. Ashley would also assist in giving us a clear understanding of what it was that we needed to do to continue with their progress while she was not around. An easy 10/10 for her services and would highly recommend her to anyone who was in need of Speech services!”

“Ashley is very energetic and engages eye to eye. She does what she needs to, to get the child engaged in therapy. Ashley is open to questions and offers help and gives families ideas on to what to work on at home.”

“I'd like to share my wonderful experience working with Miss Ashley as my son, Carson's, speech-language pathologist. Miss Ashley served as Carson's speech therapist for over a year; but she was not only his speech therapist, but a true advocate for Carson. We didn't receive a formal autism diagnosis until he was 3 years old; Miss Ashley advocated for Carson to get the correct diagnosis, supports, and therapies to help him thrive.

Miss Ashley was a pleasure to work with; she is a true team player and coached me as a parent in helping Carson progress in communicating. Most importantly she taught me communication is more than just words, it's gestures, body language, and facial expressions to name a few. She helped brainstorm and problem solve with me; she helped me see things from Carson's perspective and how frustrating it must be for him to not be able to communicate. Carson definitely made great strides in progressing in his speech with Miss Ashley.

Miss Ashley was very professional as well as personable and approachable. She has the perfect disposition for working with children. She followed Carson's lead with his personal likes and interests and used that to expand his communication skills.

I would definitely recommend Miss Ashley to family and friends who are in need of a gifted speech therapist who is down to earth and genuine. Thank you for your time.

With kind regards,

Carla Rizzardi”

"To whom it may concern:

Ashley Hosman was my son Trenten's speech therapist in 2019. Prior to working with Ashley, we had spent several years with countless doctors, tests and theories trying to get him a diagnosis, to no avail.

The consensus was, 'this is just who Trenten is.'

Ashley was the one who suggested we get a second opinion. It was clear to her, after working with him, that there was something going on. We went to the University of Virginia to see the pediatric Neurology team. By this point we were willing to try anything. We knew and Ashley suspected there was more going on.

Because of her dedication to her patients and the love of the job she is doing, she had the strength and courage to encourage us to continue searching for answers. Trenten was diagnosed with Juvenile Huntington's Disease in 2021.

We would recommend Ashley for any position working with patients. She is knowledgeable, compassionate, and just an awesome individual. It is our privilege to have had the opportunity to have worked with her.

Kind Regards,

Jennifer G.”
